Company History

Since NORD was founded in 1965, all subsidiaries have shared in the common goal to meet or exceed the demands of our customers. Here are some of our milestones throughout the years.

1977 Construction of a modern gear producing factory
1979 Establishment of worldwide subsidiaries. Worldwide expansion of assembly centers
1981 NORD's UNICASE™ leak-proof housing design introduced
1983 Construction of NORD's first motor manufacturing facility
1984 Construction of NORD's first frequency inverter manufacturing facility
1987 Construction of motor manufacturing plant in Italy
1991 Machining factory for castings & steel components built
1998 New assembly plant in France
2000 New assembly plants in Great Britain and Austria
2001 New assembly plant in China
2002 Expansion of Gadebusch machining plant (app. 80,000 sq. ft.)
2003 Construction of an assembly plant in Russia
2004 Construction of a new motor plant in Italy

Opening of storage retrieval system in Germany

2006 New production plant for electronic products opened in Aurich, Germany

2011 NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is celebrating the inauguration of the fourth construction stage of the production facility in Gadebusch and the 25th anniversary of NORD GEAR Ltd in Brampton, Canada. In China, NORD celebrated the opening of a second factory in Tianjin, about 60 miles southeast of Beijing. NORD becomes present on a fifth continent by opening the NORD Australian subsidiary in Darwin.
2012 NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is represented by 35 subsidiaries throughout the world. The NORD sales and service network is supported by sales and service partners in more than 60 countries. With a highly motivated team of employees and a complete range of technologically advanced and high quality drive products, the company is well equipped to face the challenges of the future.
2013 New construction of an additional production facility in Souzhou China
2014 Modernization of the service area and the painting plant at the headquarters in Bargteheide.
2015 50th company anniversary.
New office building construction in Germany.
2016 Expansion of production areas by 3,300m² for finishing of housings in Gadebusch.
Introduction of the field distribution system NORDAC LINK (frequency inverter/motor starter).
New construction of the installation and distribution site in Siheung, South Korea.
2017 Introduction of a new size of industrial gear units with 15,000 Nm.
Expansion of capacity by approx. 2,000 m² at NORD Gear, Waunakee, USA.
2018 Product Launch vom NORDBLOC.1 1-stage helical inline gear motor.
New construction of sales office and service center in Podleze, Poland.
