Heavy-duty Gearmotors

The Wuhan Iron and Steel Group (WISCO) operates a port in Wugang near the East China Sea that handles iron ore. The cranes and conveyor systems at the port must include highly reliable drives.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS supplied more than 170 heavy-duty gearmotors for teh Wugang transhipment port. With the global headquarters near Germany's prominant harbor city of Hamburg, NORD was anything but a stranger to the maritime industry. NORD has a long track record as a supplier of mechanical and electronic drive technology for gantry cranes and other port machinery. The NORD DRIVESYSTEMS Group's Chinese subsidiary managed the WISCO project. Among other pieces of heavy machinery, two mobile ship loaders with a capacity of 5,000 tons per hour each were constructed. WISCO was impressed by the superior quality and durability of the drive products as well as the pre- and after-sales services the drive specialist provided.
