EtherNet/IP

EtherNet / IP is an open communication profile for industrial automation systems that uses the basic technology of Ethernet TCP / IP and the application protocol CIP (Common Industrial Protocol). The system is based on the OSI model (Open Systems Interconnection Model = reference model for network protocol as layer architecture). The EtherNet / IP adaptation to the CIP technology takes place in the three upper layers (5 ... 7) and the CIP adaptation to the EtherNet / IP technology in the four lower layers (1 ... 4).

Ethernet Powerlink

POWERLINK is a real-time Ethernet for the transmission of real-time data in the microsecond range. The focus of POWERLINK is on the transfer of process data in automation systems. The Ethernet connection uses layers 2 (data transmission) and 7 (application layer) of the OSI model (Open Systems Interconnection Model = reference model for network protocols as layer architecture, ISO 11898). POWERLINK integrates the CANopen profiles in layer 7 of the OSI model.
